Issa & Haajar's Muslim wedding in Accra unfolded over three days in 2022, each one with its own rhythm and its own reason for being — the kind of celebration where our job was mostly to stay close, stay quiet, and not miss anything.

Day One: The Reception

The celebrations opened with the reception, the first chance for both families and their wider circle to come together, eat, dance, and mark the occasion publicly before the more intimate rites of the following days. It set the tone for everything that followed: warm, loud in the best way, and full of people who clearly adored this couple.

Day Two

The second day belonged to Haajar and her family, a day built entirely around her. She changed outfits multiple times through the afternoon, each one more elaborate than the last, surrounded by mothers, aunts, and sisters whose job was equal parts styling team and cheering section. Photographing a day like this means working fast between changes without ever making it feel rushed .The goal is always to catch the in-between moments, not just the poses.

Day Three: The Wedding at the Mosque

The final day began at the mosque, where the marriage itself was solemnised, quieter, more formal, and deeply rooted in faith. What struck us most was how communal it was: not a couple standing at the front while guests watch, but families actively part of every stage, present and participating rather than simply observing. By evening, the mood shifted entirely into a family celebration reception, closing three days of ceremony with music, food, and dancing late into the night.

Years from now, Issa and Haajar won't just want to remember how they felt across those three days, they'll want to remember exactly what the beadwork looked like, who was standing where at the mosque, the exact sequence of outfits Haajar wore and who helped her into each one.
